BQUEEN COLLECTION #TOTALLYTEXTUREDTUESDAY

Hi again! Makenzie from BQueen Collection sharing another Totally Textured Tuesday stitch for our 12 week series. I’ve handpicked my favorite 12 stitch patterns that are full of texture and dimension – no flatwork here! First, a quick a recap of what we’ve done so far:

Week 1: Single Crochet Back Loop Only (sc BLO)

Week 2: Blanket Stitch

WEEK 3: Even Moss Stitch

Hands crocheting a blue crochet swatch with a wooden-handled crochet hook.

Today you’re going to learn how to crochet Even Moss Stitch! It’s called “even” because the same stitch is worked directly on top of itself, creating a very orderly fabric with distinguishable columns and rows. We’ll see some more “even” stitches in our 12 week series, too!

We want to see it! If you try any of the stitches with us during the series, tag us @WeCrochetOfficial and @BQueenCollection AND use #totallytexturedtuesday so we can share!

MATERIALS

Any yarn or hook will do, but here is what I am using:

Hands holding a ball of blue yarn and a wooden handled crochet hook over a blue crocheted swatch with a bumpy texture.

ABBREVIATIONS

  • ch: chain
  • sl st: slip stitch
  • hdc: half double crochet
  • sk: skip
  • rep: repeat

INSTRUCTIONS

Multiple: 2

Row 1: Ch a multiple of 2 to desired length, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, *hdc in next ch, sl st in next ch; repeat from * across, ch1, turn.

Row 2: Sl st in the first st (the last sl st of the previous row), *hdc in next st, sl st in next st; repeat from * across, ch1, turn.

Tip: It is helpful to place a stitch marker in the first and last sl sts of a row because they can be kind of tricky to find.

Repeat Row 2 until desired measurement.

The Even Moss Stitch is a great two stitch pattern that is full of that yummy texture I love!  Thank you for joining me and I’ll see you next week for a Totally Textured Tuesday.

Week 1: Single Crochet Back Loop Only (sc BLO)

WEEK 2: Crochet Blanket Stitch

This week I am sharing the crochet Blanket Stitch – a super easy, popular and cozy stitch that is just perfect for a big or small project that might need some dimension instead of a flat fabric. I can see this stitch being very functional as a dishcloth pattern, or of course as the perfect easy and repetitive stitch for a blanket.

We want to see it! If you try any of the stitches with us during the series, tag us @WeCrochetOfficial and @BQueenCollection AND use #totallytexturedtuesday so we can share!

WEEK 1: SC BLO / Single Crochet Back Loop Only

Single crochet back loop only (BLO) crochet swatch. a purple crochet swatch with a wooden-handled crochet hook

To kick off the series, we are starting with the most basic beginner stitch: single crochet. However, this particular stitch has a twist on it that you may or may not have tried before, which is to crochet through the back loop only (blo) in every stitch. This creates a stretchy ribbing full of texture, most often used on cuffs, collars, and borders. The best part? No thinking involved with this stitch pattern – just one repetitive stitch over and over, row after row. #thatwaseasy

MATERIALS

Any yarn or hook will do, but here is what I am using:

ABBREVIATIONS

  • ch: chain
  • sc: single crochet
  • blo: back loop only

SPECIAL STITCHES

  • sc blo: insert your hook under the back loop only (not both loops as you normally would) of the next stitch, complete a single crochet
Single crochet back loop only (BLO) crochet swatch. Hands crocheting a purple crochet swatch with a wooden-handled crochet hook

INSTRUCTIONS

Multiple: Any

Row 1: Ch to desired length, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, ch1, turn.

Row 2: Sc blo in each sc across, ch1, turn.

Repeat Row 2 until desired measurement.

A very basic and easy stitch to get us started on this texture journey! Thank you for joining me and I’ll see you next week for a Totally Textured Tuesday.
