WeCrochet Podcast Episode 6: Puff, Bobble, Popcorn

Crochet offers a lot of room to create in new and exciting ways. Learning a new stitch offers an opportunity to design something new. This week Producer Sarah & Heather talk about Heather’s new (secret) crochet design that uses the Puff Stitch. #whatisheathersdesign

Then Sara and Heather explain the difference between Puff Stitches, Bobble Stitches, and Popcorn Stitches, and the Horizontal Puff Stitch. These stitches are great ways to add texture to a project but are easily confused.

Next the WeCrochet team continues to celebrate International Crochet Month by offering an opportunity to receive free issue of WeCrochet Magazine Issue 2. Regan and Heather chat about Regan’s second crochet sweater. They also get philosophical about how crochet stitches develop and bread. We listen and share YOUR voicemails!

Heather asks Kerry about what makes a good crochet design proposal, and Kerry gives her top tips for helping your proposal rise to the top of the pile. If Heather can design a pattern, so can you.

Last, Heather talks to Regan about following his first pattern and learning Puff Stitches.

March 7: Download the Bobble Diamonds Blanket pattern and read through it.
March 10: Make your swatch to determine gauge and practice the bobble stitch.
March 14: Start your throw!
March 30: Post pictures of your progress and tag with #WeCrochetCAL.
April 30: Finish your throw. Don’t forget to share pictures on social media and tag us so we can see.
May 15: If desired, donate your throw to the charity of your choice, like Project Linus.

We’re featuring a new free pattern every Tuesday for 12 weeks. This week’s free crochet pattern is the Bobble Clutch Bag .

It’s the gifting season, and we at WeCrochet are celebrating by releasing a free pattern every week for the 12 weeks leading up to mid-December. Each week we’ll release a pattern that you should be able to finish in time for gift-giving. This week we’re sharing the Bobble Clutch Bag designed by Helen Anderson in CotLin!

The Bobble Clutch Bag is a great opportunity to use cotton/linen yarns in the wintertime! Cotton and linen (our CotLin yarn) are traditionally considered a summertime fiber because of their breathability, but they also provide a lot of structure when working bags or other projects that need to maintain shape and texture. The Bobble Clutch Bag features that intricate texture with the use of the bobble stitch.

You’ll have so much fun making this project for loved-ones this holiday season.
